Strike Benefits
We’re here to help when union members are on strike. Check out our strike benefits below.
Get cash with a strike grant. Unlike a loan, you'll never need to repay the money. If you have a Union Plus Credit Card or Teamster Privilege Credit Card or a Union Plus Personal Loan, you may eligible for a grant.
If you’re a Union Plus policy holder involved in a union-approved strike or lockout lasting 90 days or longer, you can defer your premium payments for two months.
To check eligibility and use this strike benefit, call 855-666-5797.
If you’re a Union Plus policyholder, your premiums are waived for up to three months during union-approved strikes lasting more than 30 consecutive days. This waived premium never has to be repaid.
To check eligibility and use this strike benefit, call 800-393-0864.
If you’re a Union Plus policyholder, your premiums are waived for up to one full year during a union-approved strike or lockout lasting 30 days or more, providing the coverage remains in force. This waived premium never has to be repaid.
To check eligibility and use this strike benefit, call 800-393-0864.
I’ve had [a Union Plus Credit Card] for over 10 years now. It can provide a one-time strike grant for eligible cardholders who are on [union-sanctioned] strike.
It was nice knowing that the union understands that workers need special help during a strike.
What I’m so impressed by is the fact that Union Plus is providing benefits for and actually caring about hard-working Americans.

*Not all unions are eligible for Strike Grants.
If you’re on strike, you may be eligible for a grant that you'll never need to repay.

The Union Plus Save My Home Hotline is provided through the non-profit Money Management International (MMI).
Are you a homeowner facing financial trouble that may make you fall behind on your mortgage payments or worried that the next change in your adjustable rate mortgage (ARM) will put payments out of reach? The Union Plus Save My Home Hotline may be able to help.

-
Protect you from future credit problems before you get too far behind on mortgage payments.
-

Yes. The hotline's HUD-certified counselors can help you establish a budget, set priorities and explain all the available strategies to stop foreclosure and help you keep your home. Landlords and lenders often are willing to be flexible about repayment of late or missing payments.
If you simply cannot make your payments, your counselor can provide advice for working with the lender. Your lender may be able to restructure your loan to a fixed rate, for example, or allow you to make smaller payments for a limited period of time (those payments will be added to the loan balance, though.) If necessary, your counselor will make referrals to other resources or alternatives such as a deed-in-lieu of foreclosure (where you essentially turn the home back over to the lender). You'll leave the session with a plan outlining actions you need to take.
No. Unlike with credit counseling, the Save My Home Hotline counselors are unable to work directly with your lender. However, they will create an action plan to help you address your housing concerns. After the session, you should be better prepared to work with your lender. And, you may call the Hotline to speak with a counselor as many times as you need to make sure all of your questions and concerns are answered.
Your counseling session will consist of a review of your circumstances, including income, expenses, debts and mortgage terms. You should have the account numbers, billing addresses, current payments and balances for all creditors you owe, as well as any information from your mortgage lender, including payment amount and time delinquent (if applicable).
If you have a Union Plus Mortgage, you may also be eligible for the Union Plus Mortgage Assistance Program.

Bankruptcy Counseling Fee Waiver
Before you file for bankruptcy, get pre-filing counseling for free. The $50 counseling fee is waived for union members.
The Union Plus Bankruptcy Counseling Fee Waiver is available through the non-profit, Money Management International (MMI).
Declaring bankruptcy is a big decision. But it may be your best option if you can’t pay your bills and your debt is mounting. The federal government requires pre-filing counseling to start the process and helps you understand how bankruptcy works.
Union members or union retirees can get a bankruptcy counseling fee waiver when you meet with a certified counselor from the Union Plus Credit Counseling Program through Money Management International (MMI).
Your questions, answered.
The free bankruptcy counseling filing fee waiver is currently available in the United States, but not available in Puerto Rico, Guam, Virgin Islands, and Canada.
To be eligible, you must be:
-
Dues-paying labor union members of participating unions
-
Retired labor union members

Wells Fargo Mortgage Program
Get mortgage gifts and other exclusive benefits for union members when you buy or refinance a home with Wells Fargo Home Mortgage.
Financing available for union members from Wells Fargo Home Mortgage.
Receive special benefits including a $500 My Mortgage GiftSM award from Wells Fargo Home Mortgage after closing.1
Through the program, you have access to Wells Fargo's full range of home financing programs, including your First MortgageSM, a low down payment option for both first and repeat homebuyers.
Talk to a home mortgage consultant about loan amount, type of loan, property type and homebuyer education requirements to ensure eligibility. Keep in mind that with a low down payment, mortgage insurance will be required, which increases the cost of the loan and will increase your monthly payment. We’ll explain the options available, so you can choose what works for you.
Looking to refinance? The Union Plus Mortgage program might be able to help you lower your monthly mortgage payments and/or shorten your loan term.
When you refinance and mention your eligibility as a verified union member, you'll receive a $300 My Mortgage GiftSM award from Wells Fargo Home Mortgage after closing to be used at participating retailers.1
If you’re a veteran and you purchase a primary residence, you may be eligible for a one-time grant of $1,000 from Union Plus after you close on your home purchase.
You must submit your application for a Veteran’s Grant no later than 90 days after the closing date of your Union Plus mortgage.
*This grant is from AFL-CIO MBF.
